This project represented the culmination of a ten‐year effort to bring affordable housing to the Sheridan Station Light Rail. A number of framing schemes were evaluated for this project to find the most cost effective solution. With 8 levels of framing and 133 apartment units that included one, two, and three-bedroom options, this framing system required premanufactured metal studs with long span composite metal deck flooring. This system allowed for fast and efficient construction that also eliminated the need for floor joists and flush in-floor beams reducing the floor to floor height of the building. Additional efficiencies in layout were also captured with thoughtful detailing that kept the corridor and unit framing similar. An undulating façade was easily incorporated into the design with intelligent detailing as well as an excel transformer station that the building encompassed. The building is constructed to comply with Enterprise Green Communities criteria.
